Silver Miniature Compass by Dennison No 838 c1915 – SOLD
Antique compass having 1” Singer Patent design mother of pearl floating card dial with cardinals and intercardinals, suspended on a jewelled bearing under a bevelled crystal.
The whole held within silver hunter case with suspension post and bow, both case and bow carrying clear hallmarks for the maker Aaron Lufkin Dennison, Birmingham. The case carrying the date letter for 1915, the bow for 1914. The inside lid of the case further marked with serial no. 838.
The case exterior decorated with engine turned pattern, the top with vacant cartouche.
A beautiful and rare instrument in excellent working condition, the case with minor wear consistent with age, free of dents, the crystal chip-free.
Aaron Lufkin Dennison was an American watchmaker and businessman who founded a number of companies.
