Pocket barometer having 1¾” inch die-struck and silvered dial with rotating outer altitude scale having a range from 0 – 8,000 ft with stations at 1,000 ft points and divided to 100 ft intervals. The inner dial with barometric scale divided to inches and 10ths of inches of mercury with a range from 23 – 31. The upper dial marked “Rain,” “Change,” “Fair.” The lower dial bearing the retailer’s signature “Pillischer, New Bond Street, London.” Blued steel pointer. Rotating bezel carrying the altitude ring. Bevelled glass. Conventional 1” capsule driven movement by Negretti & Zambra. Drum form case with rear grip ring, centrally positioned detail rib, the verso with compensation port and screw. Case extension and suspension ring.

Contained within its original leather over timber navy blue grosgrain silk and velvet lining. Snap closure on a button release.

Surviving in exceptional condition, retaining most original finish, minor marks to verso, the dial and glass excellent. The leather case with some abrasions to base, minor wear and ageing, retaining a good proportion of original gloss and colour.

Serviced and conserved, a good collectable example in good working order.
