VERY SCARCE AUTOMOTIVE CAR ROTAX AMMETER c1910

Rotax Ampmeter_1a

A very scarce early 20th century automotive brass cased Rotax Leitner ammeter for veteran cars and motorcycles

Early automative ammeter having 3” diameter case including mounting flange, the movement mounted within a timber chassis. Silvered semi-circular dial calibrated 0-8 amps. The front carrying the maker’s logogram “Rotax Leitner” and “British Made,” the verso with two wires, marked + (positive) and – (negative).

Condition: Working, though accuracy cannot be certified. The case retaining some original finish. Appearing damage free, crisp overall.

Comments: An extremely unusual instrument ideally suited to early 20th century veteran and vintage cars, motorcycles, and perhaps aircraft of the same age.

Rotax Motor Accessories Company was formed c1909, offering a range of “lamps, horns, ignition coils, switches, etc,” and the image shows an advert from 1912 for the Rotax Leitner dynamo.
