A very handsome sideboard or hall table thermometer having ivory register with twin ranges 10 – 120 degrees Fahrenheit and -10 – 40 degrees Reamur, marked “Freezing” and “Blood Heat,” and further marked “W. Dixey, 241 Oxford Street, London. The mercury thermometer held in place with twin brass hasps, the bulb protected by a matching brass cloche. The register held within a brass bezel, and mounted on a substantial carved and highly polished ebony obelisk stand.
