Antique micrometer having finely printed 2” white card dial calibrated in millimetres, one revolution of the indicator being equal to one millimetre, each revolution divided to 200 parts, each part thus being one two-hundredth of a millimetre. Blued steel indicating hand, set beneath a bevelled glass. Lacquered brass drum form case with side-mounted calipers, the whole raised upon a turned lacquered and polished wooden base struck with serial no. “760” and having vertical slot cut and aligned to the calipers, the base raised on bun feet. The instrument contained within the bottom half of its original paper-veneered box, the top half missing.
An unusual and interesting high precision instrument in fine working condition, checked for accuracy against a modern equivalent. A collector’s or user’s piece alike.
