Antique anemometer constructed on a central oblong profile spine and arranged vertically, the verso with instrument serial no. “8180,”Jules Richard “RF”  logogram  and “Made in France.”

Rate of flow dial with silvered and engraved scale from 0 – 100 metres, twin blued steel pointers the larger recording single metres, the smaller hundreds with full scale resolution to 1000 metres. Drum form case with activation-deactivation lever to side marked “A” & “M” for ‘arrêt’ and ‘marche’, stop and go.

Conventional 30 minute recording stopwatch with Arabic chapter ring to 60 seconds divided to seconds & 1/5th of seconds, subsidiary dial to 30 minutes, crown re-set, stop function on auxiliary side mounted lever.

3¾” diameter shroud with eight-bladed turbine, the shaft turning about adjustable pivots maintained on twin cast alloy cross beams, worm and wheel transfer gearing to a longitudinal drop shaft to meters recorder.

Dual function stop and start lever mounted to rear cross beam simultaneously causing the stop watch to stop or start whilst engaging or disengaging the turbine.

Complete in its correct leatherette over timber and purple velvet lined case, bright plated security catches and carry handle, adjustment tool and oil bottle, pull down flap to inner lid. The outer lid marked “Anémomètre Richard” with French Navy plate marked “Marine Nationale A-G.”

Some losses to plating, minor distortion to turbine blades, possible malfunction to volume meter re-set, otherwise in good working order and condition.

These instruments are rarely seen: this one, complete with accessories and in good working order is unusual.
