
A good lacquered brass 8 day ship’s clock by Mercer, St Albans, England c1935
Ships bulkhead clock having 6” off white painted dial, hand-decorated with Art Deco Arabic numerals, the chapter ring divided into minutes, double swell spade hands, aperture for winding square and S-F regulation. Heavy bevelled glass with hinged bezel and friction lock, conventional good quality movement, platform escapement. All contained in a heavy spun lacquered brass case, rear flange with fixing points. Supplied with correct key.
Condition: Fully serviced by our horologist, the movement stripped cleaned, serviced and regulated. The dial with some ageing otherwise clean and crisp, the case retaining much original lacquer but with obvious signs of age, the glass clear.
Comments: A much better than ordinary ship’s clock from the 1930s in well above average condition from one of the most respected makers of the time.
