Bar needle suspended on jewelled bearing. Transit lock activated by the lid. Spun brass case with full-depth push-on lid.

A good quality antique compass in very good working order, the transit lock functioning correctly. The case retaining some of its original lacquered finish, marks commensurate with age, free of dents and dings, the glass chip-free.

Although unsigned, almost certainly the work of Francis Barker. A desirable antique compass for the collector.
