Beveled glass. 1¼” capsule driven movement of conventional design. Drum form case with circumferential rib, pillar with suspension ring. The verso with calibration port set at 8 o’clock. Contained within its attractive dark green leather over wood frame display case with red silk and maroon velvet lining, easel stand, brass catch to side.
This is a lovely instrument surviving in exceptional original condition, the product of one of the very finest manufacturers of scientific instruments – the quality is evident in the design, execution and choice of materials. Most of these travelling desk pieces feature instruments with a 2” diameter dial – this one is uncommon having the larger 2½” dial.
The instrument with minor losses and some oxidation to lacquered finnish, the dial with very minor marks, the leather case with some abrasions and losses. Crisp overall. Inspected, conserved, serviced and calibrated, working well with good sensitivity. An attractive instrument becoming increasingly difficult to find in this condition.
