Miniature compass by Francis Barker having ⅝” diameter hand decorated mother-of-pearl Singer pattern floating card dial showing cardinals and intercardinals, Singer trademark star and lyre indicating north, on jewelled suspension. Polished reflector ring under bevelled glass. Held in a gold spur-shaped surround, spinning or swivelling around two side mounts. Well-struck hallmarks for 9ct gold, Matthew Wilcox & Son, Birmingham, and 1919.

The compass swinging freely and finding north easily. The reflector ring with ageing, the glass with very light marks, not visible to the naked eye. The gold surround with some marks.
