The chassis struck with the Richard Frères logogram  and serial no. “2316.” 2⅛” silvered and engraved recording dial calibrated from 0 – 90 metres, the upper part marked “Mètres,” the lower signed by the maker “Jules Richard, Constructeur, Paris.” Side-mounted dial brake, aperture for re-set at verso. Contained within its correct dark brown canvass over timber, purple velvet lined case, plated furniture including carry handle and turn in the slot catches. Lid marked “Anémomètre Richard.” Includes original re-setting key and oil bottle

Generally a nice working example, retains most original finish, some discolouration and losses. All controls operate as they should, the turbine runs well, the blades remaining in the plane of rotation. Lacks compass.

These early instruments are rarely seen, particularly with the housing for the compass.
