This instrument represents the best in terms of quality of making, the provision of a fine English silver case setting it aside from the great majority. Clearly little used and remaining in fine original condition with light surface marks and a few scratches to side of silver case. The original leather case in very fine condition.

This silver pocket barometer is a fine example of this great maker’s work, serviced, inspected and in good working order.

Albert Thomas Oliver was a silversmith working in Clerkenwell, London, and specialising in gold and silver watch cases, from 1903 onwards, continuing the business of Richard James Oliver.

Charles Hatchman was a London-based silversmith and maker of watch cases, working from 1867 onwards.  The most recent work recorded by Hatchman is dated 1874, but we have two examples showing his silver maker’s mark with date letters for 1907 and 1909.
